The Premier

Course Overview

Harry Melling had a dream to build one golf course for each day of the week. After 5 successful years of full tee sheets on the Jones “Masterpiece” course, it was time to pursue this dream and build another course. Melling turned to his famed golf professional, Rick Smith, and asked, “who’s the best?” Thus, began an intense recruitment of the most sought after architect in the ’90s, Mr. Tom Fazio.  After numerous calls by Rick Smith, Fazio ventured north to Michigan to Treetops to walk the potential site. He stepped onto the land, fell in love and began construction on what is still today the only Tom Fazio design in Michigan. The “Premier” provides a more user-friendly complement to the difficult Jones “Masterpiece”.
