Course Overview
After attending the famed Par 3 Event, hosted by Augusta National prior to The Masters, Rick Smith returned to Treetops with a bright idea. “Let’s build a Par 3 Course, Smith said, the TOUR players love it.” When Harry Melling gave him the green light, Rick was out scouting the land and clearing brush the very next day. A year later, “Threetops” opened. Immediately, the cleverly named “Threetops” began to garner national attention and has been ranked the #1 Par 3 Course in America in multiple publications concurrently from its opening to present day. The course became even more of a landmark in 1999 when it hosted the 1st ever Par 3 Shootout televised nationally by ESPN. The first participants in the event were PGA championship winners Jack Nicklaus, Raymond Floyd, Phil Mickelson and Lee Janzen.
